Oklahoma's baseball team began conference play this weekend with a trip to Manhattan to take on the Kansas State Wildcats. The Sooners dropped the first game of the series 9-1 before hanging on to win the second game 12-11. Then came the rubber match on Sunday afternoon where Oklahoma abused the Wildcat pitchers by scoring 29 runs in 7 innings.
Oklahoma had 11 hits and led 13-2 after just the first inning. They added three more runs in the 3rd to expand the lead to 16-4 and then added another run in the 4th. The 5th inning would bring another offensive explosion as OU plated 11 more runs on 10 hits to lead 28-4. Bryan Groth added a solo homerun in the 7th and the game was called due to the mercy rule giving the Sooners a 29-4 win.
