Big Red Rivalry Football Game Thread: #20 Sooners At Huskers
Oklahoma Sooners at Nebraska Cornhuskers, Nov 7, 2009 7:00 PM CST
Kickoff: 7:00 PM Central
Location: Lincoln, Neb. | Weather | Live Radar
TV: ABC Regional Coverage
Radio: Sooner Sports Radio Network
Satellite: Sirius 127 | XM 102

I need some help here fellas. I'm stuck in Central America until Monday which means little or no college football at all for me today. I'm hoping to be able to follow the game on the internet but down here there are no guarantees. Keep the game thread cranking so I can know what's going on!

Smack these fools!

Slow start for the Huskers
a curious call on 3rd & 11 for the QB draw
Good field position after the punt return by Broyles
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Tenell could have had that
to convert that after the tip
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:21 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I think Nebraska really is not very good on offense...
.. and that’s putting it nicely
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 7:25 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
It almost looks like they are trying to
prevent the flurry that put them out of it quickly last year.
Plus with the true Frosh going against this defense…yeah, I’d call it real conservative to let him get his feet wet. We have to capitalize thought next time we get the ball.

Uh, that's how we lost one QB already
what a disaster
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:32 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
U - G - L - Y
Unless Broyles runs one back this is going to be a long, lonely night for the offense getting into the end zone it seems
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:33 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
As usual, if odds are we are just giving them the ball back, do it after 4 downs! Don’t freaking kick!
by OU JJ on Nov 7, 2009 7:35 PM CST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
maybe we can match them with our third missed FG
just to keep everything symmetrical
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
NU now doubling our offensive production
16 yds to 8 yds
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:42 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
but after that huge punt we face a long field
we have to get something going here
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:44 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Good to see the o-line we know and love showing up
Letting guys in untouched , false starts – wait – we need some holding penalties to really regress completely back to the same state of the BYU game.

A forgettable 1st quarter...
… have to be feeling good if a Cornhusker fan
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 7:50 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
they are not overly happy at CornNation
but they are predicting a 3-0 win in OT
33 total yards of offense in that quarter
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:51 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Well, that's game
at least I can get to bed early tonight.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 7:56 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
This is really getting embarrassing
KW better figure out how to generate some offense

A drop, then an injury
Glad all I have is cookies around the house and no
whiskey
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:04 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Thank you Trent Williams
adding a personal foul to his trophy case of false starts and holds
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:11 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Let's keep rolling
Get Jones in a rhythm and churn some yards
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:13 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I say kick the FG
He’s due one, but knowing Stoops they go for it.. and get stuck on the next set of downs
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:15 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
OK... attempted assassination of Michael Corleone...
… the family survies
Hyman Roth = Cornhuskers
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:24 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
52 is killing us
He is not letting anybody by him
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:26 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Why are they runnign the shovel
right towards Suh? Seems beyond silly to think that we are going to beat him.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:28 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
You gotta think NU will beat themselves at some point
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:30 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Uh oh... the Senator from Nevada is caught red-handed...
… You know… 3 points would help here
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:36 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin
that was a truly, truly, truly ugly half – but if it had happened between two SEC teams everyone would be singing the praises of the defenses
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:38 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Kick two more FGs and we win this damn game
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:37 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
the worrying thing is the 2nd half for NU
cannot get worse – right? 64 yards in penalties, only 83 yards in offense – with 63 on a single play – so we have to figure something out on offense and actually finish some drives and get TDs rather than FGs in the red zone and not make any more mistakes on the defensive side of the ball.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 8:41 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
See this as an NFL game between the Lions and the Rams...
… a few FGs will win it.
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:43 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Win it for OU, that is.
OU has 11 first downs, NU 1. Yep, that’s right. 11 first downs to 1. Now who should win this game?
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 8:45 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
we go three and out
and they pick up a first down on their first third-down conversion to open the 2nd half = NOT GOOD
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:06 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Howdy Sooner. Peaking in before our game next week....
remember, no matter what happens tonight, you’ll be playing a team with no defense next week.
by Beergut on Nov 7, 2009 9:05 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
don't worry
your offense will look like a machine against us next week
by Beergut on Nov 7, 2009 9:06 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
And Fredo just betrayed himself...
… things have to turn now.
Watch out Johnny Ola
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 9:08 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Telegraph for NU defense
another one of those and we are cooked
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:11 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Weak call
that seemed like good defense – it is hard to tell from the camera angle they showed, but looked like general handsy stuff
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:13 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
It's like false start bingo
I have 70, 71, 73 – I just need one more for the jackpot
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:13 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Jones - another mistake
He does not have to win the game – just not lose it. If he keeps making those mistakes, we are done
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:15 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Undisciplined play
again – we have them down and then give them a breath with a silly mistake.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:17 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Cuba is overrun by revolutionaries... Fredo flees
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 9:20 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
OU's o-line overrun by Blackshirts - Jones flees....
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:27 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Jones is not even planting his feet now
Throwing with all arm and shorting passes – appears to have no confidence in the line to give him any time or protection – rightly so….
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:29 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
now we are at the 30 - this is Way's favortie postion
ont he field to miss FGs from, so I think we should just stall here
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:35 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I thought you were joking
apparently not
by Beergut on Nov 7, 2009 9:38 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Wilson's motion here with Murray is working
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 9:34 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
This line has learned nothing since game 1
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 9:37 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Special teams
have been crap the past three years – Stoops really is slipping – he seems to think we can cruise against everyone it seems
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Why why???? If it’s over 35 we cannot kick it!!!
by OU JJ on Nov 7, 2009 9:38 PM CST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
we can kick it - we keep doing it
we just cannot make them
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
and he has had the distance on each kick
just not the accuracy needed
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:40 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Vito just took out the white suit...
… here’s to points for OU in the 4th
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 9:41 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
This is really sad
I hate to sound like a broken record – but NU has 20 yds passing int his game – we are starting the 4th Q – and over 50% of their offense came on ONE play back in the 2nd Q. We gotta get a strip or something deep in their territory and just use all 4 downs to get in the end zone.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:42 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Nice D
way to stay home and shut that down
it is too bad that next year we will have lost all of these defensive starters and will also have a crappy o-line. I am getting really tired of losing to Texas all the time.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:44 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
MURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get to the end zone!
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:46 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
NO! NO! NO!
Third personal foul after the play – really!!!?
I don’t get it.
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:46 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Got lucky
why is he throwing into double coverage?
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:47 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I can take some responsibility for that
I wote a post about how he could be the best qb in the conference
by ccmachine on Nov 7, 2009 9:55 PM CST via mobile up reply actions 0 recs
Blood curdling stat of the game:
If we miss another field goal, we will equal the number of NU first downs for the game
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 9:57 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
swing it to Murray for 5-7 yards
and pick up the rest on 4th down
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 10:02 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I love the announcers - "I think this might be 4 down territory"
Well, we are certainly not going to attempt a FG from here
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 10:01 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
this is really the season here
we gotta win this game somehow to keep the season alive
by chrisabo on Nov 7, 2009 10:06 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Three of last four throws by Jones...
… just not very good
by inocybe on Nov 7, 2009 10:08 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
OK
This is driving me nuts! I hate not seeing what is happening.
by ccmachine on Nov 7, 2009 10:11 PM CST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
We sure are good...
at making average teams and average players look REALLY good.
by ousooner919 on Nov 7, 2009 10:26 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
well, that was ugly
all verticals on that play was an interesting call
by Beergut on Nov 7, 2009 10:38 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
that game was the Ugliest.
The Sooner’s went into a forest and got whipped, beat and then clobbered by an UGLY Stick.
