Proof That Some Guys Just Don't Get It

Does anyone else get the feeling that this team has a "me" and not a "we" attitude?

Yes, it's sad isn't it.
If this team just put forth as much effort as the Gasman did on the taunting deal we might, just might have won at least one more game this year or maybe we would not have. we still have fan’s in my house, but man are we pissed at the way this team plays football.

off topic
and probably irrelevant given the final score, but I have to ask you guys about the Tennell non-touchdown. On the replay it appeared that his toe hit first followed by the heel of his foot. At the time the TD would have been a big play and could have possibly changed the momentum of the game. The play was not even reviewed and the god awful Fox Sports announcers never even addressed the fact that his toe did come down inbounds. Do I just not understand the rules? I thought you only had to have one foot down in CFB right? And it doesn’t have to be your entire foot, so if you have control (which surprisingly for Tennell he actually did) and you get even just one toe in bounds before your heel hits out of bounds isn’t that a TD?

one foot, but it has to be the Whole foot
get that big toe in the white..and it’s out of bounds. The issue was it wasn’t enough to over turn the call on the field.

Whole Foot?
Why does it have to be the whole foot? You see guys catch balls on the sideline all the time and as long as their toe drags across the ground in-bounds, it’s good…

ok....the whole toe
but if part of the toe is in the white……it’s not a catch.

Yeah lets take shots at the one player who was actually trying

I don't think that anyone has a problem with his effort
But high stepping into the end zone when down 21 points just screams, “hey everyone look at me! I don’t care we are getting blown out because I’m getting mine.”

the problem with that non-TD
was control of the ball. Tv showed that the ball was being bobbled. The one non-catch by Miller looked good to me. Awesome effort on his part at that time of the game.

thanks scarab
I thought Tennell had control and I wasn’t aware you had to have your whole foot in bounds as mentioned above. I agree w/ you on the Miller catch, if nothing else it was close enough to at least go to review. If they only take ten seconds and watch one replay then decide it was no good then that’s fine. But to not even review it I thought was a mistake. That said, I will NEVER go into a game in Lubbock expecting to get any calls.

No Calls!
Remember in Lubbock, I believe it was ‘07, if not, it was ’05. There was a goal-line stand and I honestly don’t remember if we scored or Tech scored, but when they reviewed it, we clearly got the ball over the line and they didn’t call it or Tech didn’t get the ball over the line and they called it.
Again, I know it was something like that—but it was a horrible call that cost us the game!

It was 05
And tech infamously did not get the ball over the plane of the endzone

multiple calls
There were several atrocious calls that game specifically one on a 4th down I believe that would have prevented the terrible goal line call referenced above. I believe Amendola caught the ball and was basically a full yard short of the marker, but by some miracle the ball was spotted just past the 1st down marker. It was almost, and I stress the word almost, as bad as Oregon. I can’t imagine anything that could be worse than Oregon.

Yeah it was questionable to say the least.

you should NEVER expect calls in Lubbock. Living in West Texas I can tell you the old SWC feelings on traveling to Lubbock… “that smell when you drive in, it is the smell of home cooking”. They are infamous for doing things like having the chamber of commerce president on the officiating crew or worse.
Bobby Knight got in a shouting & shoving match with the president of Texas Tech at a salad bar in the freaking Unites grocery store. Can you see Stoops getting in an argument with Pres Boren at your local Albertson’s? Seriously, weird $h!7 happens ion Lubbock!

here is how you get to Texas from Oklahoma
First, you go west till the you feel the sucking wind from the south pulling on you, it becomes so overpowering that you start to head south.
Second, continue south until your nostrils fill with a powerful foul smelling stench, the kind that burns your eyes and nostrils.
Third, you put your foot down and look to the ground and there you are in a pile of chit, Deep In the Heart of Texass.

That's the smell of money, whether it's oil or cow dung
Two can play the ‘bad call’ game. After studying the tape, the long run after catch by Torres was a TD – he did not touch out of bounds until he after he stuck the ball into the pylon. And the non-catch by Zouzalik was also a TD – he stepped in bounds in the endzone well after catching the ball. That stuff happens. It shouldn’t, but it does year after year in the Big 12.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that each team claims the other gets home cooking from the refs. That’s not to say there aren’t some horrendous calls made, but it seems to happen no matter who’s on whose field. I’m still fuming over the non-call when Kindle lowered his helmet and stuck it in Potts’ earhole. If somebody just thought about doing that to the little red-headed QB in Austin, all hell would have broken loose. Go figure.

Also, the '07 non-call against TAMU
When their player laid into Harrell a good second after he had thrown the ball and there was no flag thrown, even though the side judge was looking right at it. That was in Lubbock. Bad officiating is a part of the game and it always will be. Tech never gets a call in Austin, as referenced above. In ’06 we got screwed at home in the UT game when Filani caught a pass, ran 10 yards downfield, fumbled the ball, and recovered it. The refs called it an incomplete pass. HE RAN 10 FREAKING YARDS DOWNFIELD!!! Refs suck, but you have to put up with them.
