OU-LSU Cotton Bowl? OU-USC Holiday Bowl?

USC got drilled by Oregon. LSU will head to Alabama for the next HUGE, INCREDIBLE, BIGGEST GAME OF THE ENTIRETY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY awful to watch SEC blowout and get beaten if not absolutely stomped.

Unless a miracle occurs and Les (can't spell it without 2 L's) Miles outcoaches Nick Saban, it's looking like LSU to the Cotton. Barring a loss at Arizona in a couple weeks, Oregon's a lock for the Pac-10 title, setting up USC for the Holiday Bowl.

They both got an MNC at our expense. Which team would you rather spend your New Year's watching OU whip?

if USC finishes 10-2 they will be in the Fiesta (since the Fiesta will likely lose Texas)

Since the Orange Bowl undressing against USC, OU is 15-15 in games outside the state of Oklahoma. If it works out, I’d like for OU to have a chance against the team that started it all. Here’s hoping USC loses one more and ends up in San Diego.

you're forgetting the BCS busters

of Boise St and/or TCU. Both could push USC out of the BCS bowls.

Now if LSU upsets Alabama this weekend….the BCS bowl picture gets a little more cloudy. (while the NC game gets far more clearer, with Texas and Florida having to win out)

You're forgetting that the BCS bowls only have to choose one mid-major

Boise and TCU are not BOTH making BCS bowl games. Only one of them is guaranteed a spot and if you are the Fiesta are you gonna take a 10-2 USC or a 12-0 Boise State? You’re taking USC. Sadly, there is no way they will both make it into BCS bowl games.

One team that could take USC’s bid is Notre Dame. If they get to #14 in the BCS they can be selected as an at large. Even though they lost to USC, I think their star power might be more of a draw for a BCS bowl than even USC (unlikely but it would be a close call).

I know only one has to be picked

but I do think both might get picked. Key I guess will be tickets and TV viewing. (though I like underdogs more than I think the general public does)

I didn’t mention Notre Dame. They haven’t been to a BCS bowl in some time, and rated lower than USC who they lost too, but could be the “name”….which would really be a slap to USC.

Stoops vs. Stoops

If OU can become bowl eligible, I want to see Mike vs. Bob, the fans want to see it and I hope it happens. Sit back, crack a cold one and watch the game that will out-rate the Nat’l Champ game by a wide margin.

So the Bowl picture at the moment

looks like:
Holiday Bowl (win out – Hey I had to put it in there)
Alamo Bowl (one loss)
or Sun Bowl (two losses)

Is that right? The last one is the one I’m questioning.

(note: If OU loses all 3 games, they won’t be bowl eligible)

There's also a chance of the Insight, Texas, or Indepdence Bowl

However, I think those are less likely. Even if OU were to end up 6-6, they’d probably get picked by the Sun, assuming all 7-5 teams have already been picked.

The Insight

actually has the pick before the Independence and Texas, but they have said they don’t want OU, due to the fact, it’s the same place as the Fiesta Bowl, and it’s assumed OU won’t travel well again, to Phoenix especially to a lesser bowl.

So if the Sun doesn’t take OU as an Optional Big XII team…then it’s Shreveport, LA in late December! (shudder)
