Sam Bradford Press Conference Canceled

Bob Stoops says that he wants to gather more information before meeting with the press. Meanwhile Sooner Scoop is reporting that he’s having surgery next week and will be done for the season. Hmmmmmmm.

I think this is how it plays out

Bradford has the surgery but won’t be able to throw for the NFL execs, and he will end up coming back next year to prove that he is still the same QB we as OU fans know he is.

While I take a lot of pride in Sam and certainly wish him no ill will, I agree. Here’s the deal, from most sources, it was felt Sam physically needed to mature and show his body could take the grind without that veteran line. Which, to date he hasn’t been able to do unfortuneatly.

The other thing is that an ac joint sprain is indeed a seperated shoulder no matter how you spin it. If you break your collar bone, you have seperated your clavicle from the sternum, like AD. If you seperated your clavicle from your acromion ( shoulder) it is an AC joint sprain. But really is the same injury, now think how long AD was out….

You can’t hurt a 3rd degree AC any more, but it hurts like heck while it is so unstable.

Anyway, the people who say Bradford shouldn’t have played, he tried and couldn’t keep taking those kind of hits. Nothing wrong with trying to play through it.

+1

I have had the same thoughts on his returning to play this year or even next year. I know that money is what nearly everyone in the world is driven by; 20 mil, 30 mil, 50 mil and it just on and on. The sports media is obsessed with money money and more money, Just give me the MONEY! The media is so obsessed with the NFL as well.

Sam has a lot of added distractions added by the media and of course the fans that follow that media to the hilt. Put ourselves in this situation and we would find it overwhelming most of the time. In the end whatever Sam Bradford chooses will work out for him. He has stated one time money isn’t everything for him. Maybe he has second thoughts who knows, but I for one will not throw fan-crap out about any of his choices or about whatever choice he makes. Am I interested, yes, currently he still plays for our team. I guess my main point is that I wish the media would give him some room and let get back to feeling comfortable again.

Good luck Sam Bradford.

One thing that has annoyed me is the incessant droning about how Stoops ruined Bradford’s career, Bradford and Gresham should’ve gone pro, blah blah blah. People act like they brilliantly predicted the injuries and consequences. These types of tragic injuries are like lightning strikes, and in fact, players (particularly QBs) typically come out more ready to play when they have more experience and physical maturity, so it can’t be said that these two guys made the wrong decision.

Anyway, that’s just my two cents as a fan of a rival team. I actually don’t like it when kids leave early, as with JerMichael Finley, Vince Young, and Jamaal Charles. I think each should’ve stuck around an additional season, or two in Finley’s case.

Great point. Too many times on the internet and on the sports talk shows, people get riled up about decisions a kid makes. It’s that person’s life. Not ours. 2 people in the same spot won’t always make the same decision, cause they are different people. (and I’m glad at 21 I didn’t have to make the decisions he’s going to have to make)

If Bradford goes to the NFL, great! If he comes back to OU, Great! If he has surgery, Great! If he doesn’t, Great! Any combination, is just fine with me……it’s not my life.
