Fail!
It's hard to win a game when you rush for negative yards, turn the ball over 5 times and commit 9 penalties for 110 yards. More on this later but for now just crap, crap, crap!

I feel the same way
but the Sooners were not embarassed. Made some mistakes, turned it over and just didn’t get the breaks they needed to win this game. UT played a game good enough to win. IS UT a god team, my vote is still out on that, can the Sooners salvage their season, my vote is still out on that. is Sam done at OU…YES, am I po’d at the coaching, no but I wish they would develop young players more and recruit better. Will I congratulate the WHORNS, never, they did win, so be it today.
Oh yeah, face guarding is not a penalty in college football. UT scored their only TD on that BS call.
My last note, TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS TEXASS SUCKS

How old are you?
You sound like a 4 year old. Check your spelling and grammar. To blame the loss on the refs is just idiotic. Both teams had 100 yards and more of penalties. The fact is UT made more plays than we did. Their defense stepped and won the game and their offense made enough plays.
Also their offense made the most important defensive play of the game in McCoy’s tackle on Jackson’s pick.
There was a firefight!!!!

As bad as that play was, it wasnt very heads up on Broyles part, as close as he was to the boundary, when the DB went up in the air, he should have shoved him out of bounds. Not real bright on Broyles part.

Which play are you talking about?

INT in the 4th qrtr when Jones throwing away & one of Texas DBs made a great leap to get it & was about 6 in from the sideline when it happened. One shove while he was airborn and it isnt an INT. It was the first of the 2 in the 4th qrtr

Without that pick
Our best chance at the W doesn’t happen with the B Jackson almost pick six. Great play by McCoy though on the tackle. Say what you want about him, but he is a gamer and a class guy. He has my respect. A little bit overrated as a QB, but he wins games and pulls it out even when he doesn’t play well. Granted his W, came as a result of defense and special teams he still gets credited with the W.

OK the myth of McCoy is a media creation, much like a certain Heisman winner in Florida.
As was the case today, he was at best ineffective and more often than not detrimental to Texas’ chances. I hate describing players as “gamer” or the like. Are we supposed to appreciate him because he tries hard but isn’t as good as other quarterbacks who try just as hard? Does he work harder than Bradford or more talented qb’s? I see nothing to suggest the contrary. Did he pull the game out? I would say that a Texas defense holding a talented if incompetent offense to 13 points “pulled the game out.”
He’s a solid qb, better than the Tebow child, but to suggest to me he’s a Heisman hopeful for his current season is comical. Hopefully our struggles this year will expose McCoy for the fraud he is and prevent another illegitimate Heisman.
Regardless he seems to have OU’s number and I’m not sad to see him move on to his live as career backup in the NFL.

I take it you have seen these people first hand?
by NeTexHorn on Oct 18, 2009 8:41 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I actually have seen these people "first hand"
and our defense made McCoy look worse than average. His most significant play was a tackle on a pick six. If our offense held together, as in not brutally depleted due to injury, our defense could have held McCoy and the rest of the “greatest offense of all time” to under 10 points.
Last year our defense, which was stastically and widely ridiculed as below average, made Tebow look average.
by SoonerDutch on Oct 18, 2009 4:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Who said that?
Nobody ever said that Texas had the “greatest offense of all time.” Who said that? Even Texas’ fans will tell you that their offense has a lot of work to be considered even elite or above average.

Where in my post do I blame the refs. I did not, but I did make it known that face guarding is NOT a penalty in CFB. From there UT does in fact score.
If you want to be the blog cop go ahead, I could care less what you think or write. Please do the same with my posts and just pass on by. Find something better to do beside whine about what I post.

But they’re pretty darn good.

There were alot of onesided calls. Sadly, OU played well enough to win the game. It came down to a kicker missing a kick from being in OT.
If someone had said OU would have miscues on special teams, you wouldnt have expected it to be in receiving kicks, sadly.
OU had more of everything (including turnovers & penalties) except points.
I will say that Kirkendall heading Carter should have been multiple calls. One unsportsmanlike for slamming the ball, then the leading with the head. And finally an ejection.
by OU JJ on Oct 17, 2009 4:39 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Lots of UT fans agree with you that he should’ve been ejected, but I don’t. He put his helmet forward, but I think he just mis-judged the force while just trying to get in the other guy’s face, and the other guy happened to be off-balance.
I really do think it was a safe call to throw a personal foul flag, but I disagree on the ejection opinion.
Also, I’m among those who think Colt’s butt was on the ground prior to losing control of the ball on the called fumble.

I agree with you on Kirkendall
But the ball was clearly loose on McCoy’s fumble
by ccmachine on Oct 17, 2009 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Really? How so? The ball was clutched between his arm and chest when his rear touched his ground. His butt cheek is as much “down” as a knee.

yes and boy that defense the heel of Franks cleats was on the out of bounds line on the muff punt….
by OU JJ on Oct 17, 2009 5:01 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
What?
Are you talking about the PR muff, and saying that it wasn’t muffed?
by burntorangehorn on Oct 17, 2009 5:30 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yep IF you are “seeing” that McCoy didnt fumble thru your orange colored glasses, then I have the same arguement about Franks. He clearly was very close to the sideline & very quite possibly had 1 cleat out of ounds… LOL
by OU JJ on Oct 17, 2009 6:55 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think both of the two calls
y’all are discussing were upheld simply because of the call on the field. There wasn’t indisputable video evidence, even though I thought McCoy’s rear was down.
by 2Cor12:9 on Oct 18, 2009 2:09 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Probably right that stare decisis was the factor. I’m going to fire up the HD recording and take another ten looks at the Franks fumble and Colt fumble, though.

I was just shocked to see McCoy tackled without a personal foul.
Why don’t we just get him a blue jersey? If he wins the Heisman this year, for the season he is having, there should be an outrage.

Unless he does something different the rest of the season,
The Heisman Trophy is not leaving Matt Barkley’s house (yeah they already gave it to him for this season)

HA on Kirkendall getting ejected
the Oklahoma DB took a dive. I agree that it should have been a penalty because he responded to the defensive back’s trash talking with force….but come on, that play reminded me of a soccer dive. Oh well, such is the state of all professional/college sports….get the yards whenever and however you can.
by Thehomerpimpson on Oct 17, 2009 10:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Fair enough, but it if you are going to call that lame ass call on Beal to end the game, or some of the personal fouls on OU that were called, Kirkendalls was much much more blatant and out of control. Sorry BTH, but he raised his hands and headbutted a player, I could buy your argument, but he had already spiked the ball & jawed at the referee. He was out of control & did lead with his head. That is the definition of the call, leading your head at a defenseless player. OU got one too that was much less “blatant” and “unsportsman like” on McCoy.
by OU JJ on Oct 17, 2009 5:00 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Are we talking about the same play? Kirkendoll got tackled pretty roughly (not penalty-rough; the kind of roughness that he’ll feel tomorrow), and once he got out of the pile, he hopped up, turned to Franks, and tried to get in his face and jaw. I don’t think he actually meant to do anything to knock the guy anywhere. I think he meant to get in his face, and Franks was off-balance. There’s no penalty for leading with the head on a dead-ball foul, is there?
by burntorangehorn on Oct 17, 2009 5:28 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
nope…. Kirkendall had a ball deflected on 3rd down I believe & he picked up the ball, spkied, got the flag, then literally headed butt Quentin Carter. There was no tackle, no pile, no roughing him. He was flagged for spiking but deserved a second… He was frustrated & came to bench kicking & throwing his helmet as well. As far as I know leading with the helmet is just that, it doesnt matter in what course of action. OU got flagged for a much less leading with helmet call. But then it was on your Flop professional QB.
by OU JJ on Oct 17, 2009 8:18 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Are you sure he got flagged for the spiking? I’m pretty sure it was for the contact.

12….anyone else injured?

Murray might’ve been a little nicked up for a bit—a little more than usual this season, at least.
by burntorangehorn on Oct 17, 2009 5:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
oh yes I have thought of some more : Habern & Granger (backs) & Murrays hammie issues & Simmons! 16 players. Almost all starters except Wort & Granger, both of which would have gotten alot of playing time and I am probably leaving some off. They played their butts off today when you consider all of this

Not scoring. . .
. . .TDs in the RZ didn’t help and what was with that Pistol Offense? It fooled no one except KW who — like with the draw play vs. Miami — kept using it.

I wish sacks
did not count against rushing yardage. It really skews rushing totals, and the line you really have no idea how a team did running the football.

I think I saw somewhere that if you take the sacks out of it...
…OU ran 18 times for 1 yard.
But I do agree that sacks would serve a better purpose in negative passing stats.

A NEW ERA NEEDED SOONER.. IT STARTS RIGHT HERE
You Sooners have tried to make a career out of bashing the coolest hand gesture to represent any school on earth.. Even you know that. What do you have when it isn’t UT week? We have discovered something that you can use at all of your games, because after all… a gesture that represents you, rather than bashing another, is what a real team needs.
