Once again...

OU gave us a great game. Your defensive front is outstanding and deserves recognition as one of the best in the country. The Big 12 can play defense.

I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that we did not want to see Bradford hurt again. That was disheartening.

Given that the Big 12 title is more unlikely than likely at this point

Do Oklahoma fans thing Bradford should take a break and get ready for the NFL combine? Even if he never plays a down, that signing bonus sets up his entire family for life.

Props for fighting back

I really thought the game was over, with the rout perhaps on, after our 3rd quarter TD to take a 13-6 lead. Texas was starting to dominate on both sides of the ball, and it would have been very easy to roll over and die at that point. But OU and Jones came out firing on their next possession. Good game.

Great game

Half of my family went to OU. I have a lot of respect for the school, the team, and your history. I won’t lie – I love winning this game. But it was a tough one all the way. Great game all around. If you see my brother and nephew in Dallas, tell ’em hey.

Honestly...

Sam should never have played in this game. He came back to win a national championship, and with two losses already, he had no business playing, since he had nothing left to play for. We need to focus on rebuilding, because we’ll have some big holes to fill next season.

OU played awesome today

What a great game. Your defense was phenomenal against the pass, which is where I thought we had the advantage and put a hurting on Colt. I think this game, even though it got a little sloppy with turnovers, will be one of the best in recent memory. Good luck on the rest of the season and give ’em hell!

Tough loss

We played really hard and played amazing on defense. Feel really bad for Sam. Its obvious he wasn’t fully healed and he should have shut it down after the BYU game. It was his decision to come back after the injury but Stoops should have known that he wasn’t fully healed and sit him down. There is absolutely no way he should play at all this season. Period. We are not backing into a Big 12 title this year. With the way this offense and how bad our run blocking is.

Our defense played amazing, but the difference was Texas had more play makers on defense than we did. As bad as their offense is they might not need more than 14 points to win the rest of their games. This Texas defense is absolutely ferocious especially their secondary. As bad as he has played McCoy is 3-1 against us and almost 4-0.

The rest of the season is not looking good. We good be staring at 6-6 season. No joke guys. I don’t really see how we win in Lubbock. That’s an L. Nebraska is going to be a battle but their offense is so bad that we might be able to steal one, but our offense isn’t better. Potential L.

Hell every game on the rest of our schedule I can see us losing. Seriously this season could turn into a horrible disaster.

There was a firefight!!!!

Don't worry about it

You play defense like you did Saturday, you won’t lose another game!

Good luck and Hook ’em

Nice game.

Hope Bradford is able to fully recover and come back. Seems like a great kid.

God Bless for a speedy and full recovery

Sam and Germaine.

Would love to see you next year at full speed. If not good luck at the next level.

Good game

It was a well fought battle.
Sorry to see Bradford go down.

That he has won 6 Big 12 titles.

That he needs to find a small school somehwere in the MAC or WAC who needs a HC & send Wilson a terrific letter of reference, then help pack his bags.

It was a great game played by both teams, epsecially when you figure how many injuries OU had before & during the game. Remember how OU responded last year when RR went down on defense? Our boys kept it together mentally, while Texas appeared to be frustrated much of the game.

Personally

I think Stoops will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Crazy thing about coaches now, seems after 10 years (or so) thing start going south of them. That doesn’t make them a bad coach. I also can’t explain the 10 slump either…but it seems to be there for a lot (there are exceptions of course)

Yorvit Torrealba is my daddy! (metaphorically speaking, please don't kidnap me, as no one will pay and I eat a lot so there goes the profit margin)

I have been a Cowboys fan my entire life

and I can honestly say that if he becomes head coach I will find another team to support until he is gone.

Bradford getting hurt was a downer

it would have been great to beat OU with him playing. He’s a good guy and I hope he heals soon and completely.

Ya’ll played hard and didn’t give up. We just had more defensive talent.

And Landry Jones can play. Next season should be interesting.

by Kineslaw on Oct 17, 2009 4:17 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don’t have anything bad to say about OU right now. I could talk about some ref calls and some questionable blocks, but what I have to say is this:

Nice game, guys. OU boys wanted it more, played harder, played like a team, and made it a much, much better game than it should have been this year, and it’s only by the skin of their teeth and a little luck that UT escaped with a victory today.

I’ll resume vitriolic, disorderly dislike for OU at some point, but for right now…well, when I was in college, I was the conference champion in a particular race in track. At the conference championship, I was a clear favorite, and I should’ve won by a pretty good margin. Turns out a kid who had never come close to my best times ended up passing me with less than 10% of the race to go, and it was all I could do to pull my rickety bones together and out-lean him at the line. That’s how I feel as a fan of the UT football team today, and honestly, that’s how UT football players should feel right now. OU looked like a team with every reason to fold, and every excuse to not give UT a game today, and they did both those things and more.

Wonderful performance. I wish UT had played with half that drive today.

by burntorangehorn on Oct 17, 2009 4:36 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Err…I meant that they did NOT fold, and they DID give UT a game today, and more.

Great game and a heartbreaker

I’m so sorry that Bradford was re-injured – I weep for his disappointment and his frustration. I pray he will heal and continue his brilliant career.

Outstanding game – Sooners and Horns, one to remember!

How was this a great game? To the average college fan, this game was horrid to watch.

by Tech92 on Oct 18, 2009 5:01 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

You are a Texas techie?

You WOULD say this – if you aren’t scoring 300 points and losing by 20, it’s a boring game.

I don’t know what you were watching, but I saw a war amongst men and there was blood on both sides – couldn’t hurt you techies to take note and maybe man up a little in the future!

by littlelonghorngirl on Oct 18, 2009 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sadly

I gotta agree.

If you had no rooting interest in either team, I could see how that could be a brutally long game to watch with very little offense/great defense.

Oh, I don't know about that...

The SEC does this very thing EVERY WEEK, and they seem to be held in pretty high regard… ;-)

We got a little spoiled last year

OU had the highest scoring offense in more than half a century, and Texas was close behind… Most of the country was likely expecting a “ZOMG BIG 12 OFFENSE!!!”-type performance. Those who have been paying attention (our mutual fanbases) knew it would be a pretty great defensive matchup. All this was expressed in the game commentary by Musberger and Herbstreit and how much they talked about our respective non-productivity on offense.
