How strong is Baylor's d-line?

Because we are not getting much push against them on running plays, although we seem to be holding up early in pass protection.

Watching 'Bama-Ole Miss

It sure would have been nice to have convinced Julio Jones to have come to school. He lacks a solid QB and we lack a solid receiver – it would have worked out well for both parties.

Bama is only up 3-0 at end of 1st Q

but Jones is starting to take over – he is so big and even injured has serious speed

Red zone = still equals awful

Combination of play-calling and execution not good

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

that is what it looks like

but I would throw throw throw and throw again till those guys finally get it. Catch the ball.

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 3:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think some of these guys

want this game as bad as Sam does. Way to many penalties, dropped passes on offense and the D looks worse than OU’s anemic offense

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 3:32 PM CDT reply actions

Good job on reading that play by Clayton

Maybe the offense can respond and give us some breathing room

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 3:36 PM CDT reply actions

Also, the D needs to step up here

Gotta remember – this is the 3rd string QB

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 3:49 PM CDT reply actions

OMG

Who was that? We are doomed…..

Our secondary is going to get eaten alive by Shipley and McCoy next week.

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

they caught that one

I hate to be negative about our team, however I am a realist in just about everything I do. After watching everything this year it appears that this OU team is snake bit.

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 3:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Great call by Briles or just continued crappy D by us?

I could not see who that was, but the player got hung up by 14 cutting in front f him – you gotta get through that guy or we need to be smart enough to switch coverage and not leave that guy uncovered

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 3:57 PM CDT reply actions

So, why are we throwing passes into the flat

to the “track guy”? Why are we not using him to stretch the field?

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:01 PM CDT reply actions

on that last TV shot of Stoops

I bet he was saying ‘where the hell is my football team?’

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 4:30 PM CDT reply actions

Actually, I thin he was asking

“Why did my brother leave me with this crappy D?”

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Not enough pressure

Baylor’s QB s getting time and that is going to come back to bite us

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

Defense holds

but I gotta think that play becomes a first down against a team with better athletes, say, hmmmm….. UT

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:48 PM CDT reply actions

When OU blitzes they telegraph it so well

the UT is seeing it right now in their sleep. It always ends with a pass over the middle for whatever amount of yards the receiver wants

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 4:50 PM CDT reply actions

Even when we do something positive

we gotta make sure we throw in a little negative – I did not see what McCoy did to get the penalty, but cripes….

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:57 PM CDT reply actions

FGs won't win the RRS

If we can’t get in the end zone while in the RZ, no way we even keep it close

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

RRS looks very dismal for us

I hope it rains like it did the other night in Columbia, Mo.

by scarab on Oct 10, 2009 5:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Our kick coverage seems to have taken a step back this week also

It seems like the kicks have been shorter and as a consequence the returns are longer.

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 5:02 PM CDT reply actions

Good point on TV about our lack of depth on defense

we can cover that against Baylor, but again, by this same point in the RRS we are going to be giving up big plays (and not getting lucky on non-calls on a clear pass interference)

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 5:03 PM CDT reply actions

DeMarco showing some toughness with these runs

but, man, the o-line

the problem is not solved by putting the ball in Sam’s hands b/c the problem is when it leaves his hands and gets dropped

by chrisabo on Oct 10, 2009 5:08 PM CDT reply actions

Stoops' strategy in RZ

He wanted to make sure that Jimmy Stevens had lots of practice in case the RRS came down to a game-winning FG attempt

Man, reading these comments sounds like a funeral happened

First, some good things.
Offense: Miller and Tennel showed up. Two different TEs made catches. I like seeing Murray catching passes downfield. Bradford looked pretty good throwing the ball around for the most part. No turnovers.
Special teams: 4 FGs, nice punt returns.
Defense: Shut down the running game. Caused two turnovers. Give up 7 pts.

I didn’t anticipate Bradford would make a big difference, but he does: 389 yds, TD, 0 INTs.

I’m looking forward to next week’s game. If Texas plays one half of football like they have for several games this year, OU will beat ’em.

No, funeral is next week (j/k)

I try not to get too down on the team, but I just think when the athletes are equal, we are in trouble and I know Texas will bring better athletes than Baylor and thus we are going to struggle.

I do think it was good to see some WRs stepping up and making catches, but they also dropped some balls that should have been caught and that will kill us next week. The o-line – I am not going there.

Why didn’t Wilson go to the TEs more, especially try something to them in the RZ? We just seem out of synch in the RZ.

And I have to say that my favorite player is DeMarco Murray. He ran like a man possessed – he showed toughness on several runs and also never quits on runs. The lack of getting any push or opening any holes in the interior makes me think we are in for a long day next week though as there were lots of runs where we could not get the corner and I expect that will also be true next week.

I don’t mean to sound so down – trust me – I would be sooo glad to see us win, but if we miss opportunities like we did in this game and Texas capitalizes on the ones that Baylor missed we lose and it is not even a contest.

were at the game and not able to see everything we saw, were you unable to hear or see live broadcasts?

The Sooners won the game ,,,, but this did not look pretty and from the television view it showed an offense that was so far out of sync.

Our D continues to be exposed. Telegraphing blitzes that Ray Charles could read, so open in the middle that and old man in a wheelchair could get open, blown coverages that only Britney Spears could raise more eyebrows. Sooner Fans, all of you, get this: UT will not beat us in the run game. Colt McCoy is their only runner. Colt McCoy can beat the hell out us when he reads the telegraphed blitz, the dinking in the wide open middle, and striking the Sooner secondary with a few well placed deep balls. None of these things have been improved upon since the opening game. What the D is doing is pretty much set in from training and performance in the games.

The offense, don’t count on red zone improvements. These guys look like they are in the twilight zone. I can hear that music now! :-)

To the guy sitting in section 19

Somewhere around rows 16-18, middle of the section, you are an idiot!

That is unless everytime you opened your mouth you were just joking. If that’s the case you are annoying.

Wasn't me

Colorado up on Texas early 7-0 with mix of good KO return, running, and passing, and Texas penalty.
