Bradford should sit for Miami
The uncertainty surrounding Bradford's availability for the game against Miami on Saturday is galling. Not the uncertainty over his health, mind you, but the uncertainty over whether or not to play him. If you are 48 from game day and you aren't 100% sure he can play then he should not play. Period. End of discussion. For all our delusions of grandeur it is my opinion that, given the loss to BYU, this team is playing for a conference title alone at this point. I think it is unlikely that all the domioes will fall perfectly to see the Sooners into the national championship game. That makes this game against Miami little more than an exhibition. It would be nice to win, but we don't have to have it.
Further, this isn't the Joey Halzle era. Landry Jones gives this team a chance to win. I say play him, bring Bradforfd back against Baylor and go after the Big 12 title with abandon. This is not a must win game so it is not a must play game for Bradford. He should sit.

I COMPLETELY Disagree...

First off, if you’re a fan of NCAAF, you know that losing your FIRST game (non-conference game) by no means declares you out of the hunt for the national title. Also, in NCAAF, each game is essentially a playoff game! Shoot, it would be possible for us to lose 2 of 3 non-conference games, run the table (destroying opponents) in the Big XII, winning the Big XII and STILL being in the title game.
Obviously you didn’t read the post below, but with the “upsets” that happened last weekend, as long as we keep winning, it is EXTREMELY possible for us to still contend for a national title!

Just think it through
Obviously there is a chance for the Sooners to play for the title but the odds are against it for numerous reasons which I will not elucidate here. But think about it this way. If Sam starts the game, he finishes the game unless he gets hurt. That means even if he is ineffective, even if he isn’t sharp, even if he can’t make all the throws (and there is no way to know for sure until the game) he stays in. Why? Because you do not pull a heisman winner. So even if it is obvious by the 3rd quarter that Bradford is rusty and not sharp, the coaches will stick with him.
Further, why risk it? If he is not 100% why send him out in a non conference game? It just doesn’t make much sense, especially given how Jones has played. I understand that the Sooners are “alive” for the national championship but I think you have to take a long range view of things and do what is best for Bradford and the team. If it is unclear 48 hours before the game if he is healthy enough to play, then IMO he is not healthy enough to play.

It's not that far fetched..
OU wins out they will play in the national championship. Considering the way teams are dropping right and left, other than UT, Alabama, and the Tebows, They’d have an impressive resume, a victory over UT, @KU, @Nebraska(2x), Boone State, @Miami, @Texas Tech and a loss to a ranked team at a neutral site(in which people will only remember our Heisman winning quarterback was hurt) Furthermore, I wouldn’t be surprised if a two loss team played in the championship game. It happened two years ago and we’re already have more high profile upsets.
That’s of course dependent on OU winning out, which I would bet against.
I agree with you though about Bradford. But I’m not that impressed with Miami. They could just as easily be 1-2, and how good is Georgia Tech/Florida State? This concern over Miami’s speed is a joke. OU is a top 5 program. They have the players/talent to match up with anybody, this year especially on defense. One could single out Reynolds, but considering Harris will be face down for most of the game due to our unstoppable pass rush, I wouldn’t worry about that either.
Finally it looks like this doesn’t matter because Jones is getting the start.

as he should
The hit Sam took was nasty. I never thought he would be healed up and ready to rock ‘n’ roll on the field for this game. I guarantee you his shoulder is very very tender. One touch on him and his healing might be setback terribly. LJ is capable and lucky he had the two games he did under his belt. I am not completely sold on this O-line yet. I would not risk my Heisman player this soon after a major injury on this O-line. Make this O-line prove-it against some real competition. Sooner D from the 70’s and 80’s is about to re-appear and with that suddenly Sooner Magic re-appears as well.
