Here's to a good game

As much as a blowout on either side might be amusing, that would leave my plans ruined. I plan to watch 3.5-4 hours of football, not 1.5-2 and then the rest with just a disinterested eye. I still obviously believe that Texas should be here instead of Florida, but this is a great matchup for any college football fan.

Mad props to both teams if they reach this absurd score here. Haha.

I hate the college intentional grounding rules

He just sort of flips it out there while he’s being tackled, and that’s not grounding?

by Tom (RFTN) on Jan 8, 2009 7:59 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

For some reason

I thought the NFL’s rule was stricter, but I don’t watch the NFL enough to know. Maybe NFL refs just call it more often.

by Tom (RFTN) on Jan 8, 2009 8:02 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the NFL

refs are going to protect a multi-million dollar quarterback from getting hit. so, they just call the defense for hitting to hard if they hit the QB.

hence, no grounding.

Hey guys,

Impartial fan here (college football fan, but no favorite team). After watching the game so far, I am VERY impressed by Sam Bradford. He is extremely accurate and looks great in the pocket. There is no doubt in my mind he should be the first QB off the board in the draft. I also have no doubt in my mind he’ll be a much better pro than Tebow. He has those intangibles that are so important. I’ve never really watched him for a full game and I can see that.

probably

should have called that a horse collar tackle. that looked awful.

if he didn’t tear his knee up, he tore a groin muscle.

Yeah, Oklahoma needs to get out of this power-I stuff.

It’s fine as a change-of-pace, but they need to stick with the one that brung ya; the spread.

And I’m here to add a Jayhawk fan to the group.

Go Sooners!

it’s so frustrating that they can’t sack him

by Plano Jeff on Jan 8, 2009 8:39 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

caused him enough grief…. just haven’t scored.

Why?

Let the Tigers and Bears and Cowboys anyone come and join the fun.

I’m sure we’d even allow some Longhorns, but they’re busy crying in their beer to have a good time supporting the Big XII.

I guess

It must be pointed out that in a few months I will have a degree from an SEC school. That does not stop me from rooting for Oklahoma in this game.

by Tech92 on Jan 8, 2009 8:41 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

this would be a sweet way to end the half

by Plano Jeff on Jan 8, 2009 8:42 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

okay

if Oklahoma doesn’t score here, the first half dominance will be for nought.

The announcers have zero emotion or excitement. This isn’t a baseball game.

by Tech92 on Jan 8, 2009 8:46 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Blame Fox

They do, like, what, zero regular season games and yet they do the national championship?

by Tech92 on Jan 8, 2009 8:49 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Could be better

Could be 21-7 OU.

Gotta capitalize on those mistakes/opportunities. But, there’s another half to adjust.

by Wolvie on Jan 8, 2009 8:50 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

OU should really be dominating the way they’ve gotten down there. I think Fla wins…you never see a team fail to capitalize like that and still win in such a big game.

Fla 213 Total Net Yards
OU 225

Fla 32 Total Offensive Plays
OU 40

Fla 68 Net Yards Rushing
OU 79

Fla 145 NET YARDS PASSING
OU 146

About 50 of that

FL rushing stat came on one play. The OU D has really handled the Florida rush so far.

They’re going to come out and run right up the middle.
