Don't Overlook UW
I'm tucked up in the rainy corner of the country in Seattle. The weekend is over and so is my anger at the Pac-10 officals calling our game. So, I figured it was time for the trash talk to begin. It seems from what I've been reading that everybody is picking OU to run right over my beloved Huskies. And while I can't seem to rationalize a terribly strong argument to contradict that sentiment, I can present to you Jake Locker. A do it all QB with more athelticisim than Tim Tebow and a natural leadership quality you cannot teach. I don't know how many of the readers of this blog are diehards who check up on scouting reports of the upcoming opponents, but to those of you who haven't seen what Jake can do, take heed.
I realize your offense is bar none, the most complete unit in the country. I fully expect the Sooners to hang at least 35-45 on the Dawgs this weekend. But our fast, athletic, young offense is starting to come together; and if they can get motivated after such a tragic ending last Saturday, your defense could be in trouble. I urge you all to watch some Jake Locker highlight videos, and read up on Fr. WR Jordan Polk who runs a 10.63 100m. Or 6'6" 255lb. TE Kevario Middleton, who is quickly becoming one of the better TE's in the conference, after only 2 games. This group may not be anything special yet; but if your Sooners aren't careful, they could find themselves in a shootout with a very hungry young team. A team that could possible eek out a victroy against a BCS contender.

If the game is close WU can also count on the PAC-10 officals to help get them at least 10 points. grrrrrr.

Heh...
We’ve both been screwed by the Pac-10 officals. I will concede that the Oregon game is a travesty unmatched since it went down. But we got the shaft pretty good last week and our out of conference foe managed to get a game changing penalty. I suspect if anything, they will give OU a couple of freebies for the Oregon incident. They apologized to you, we got nothing.

Lets...
take this game over to Idaho. I bet the Big Sky officals won’t screw us. Who’s with me!

So how good are the Huskies this year?
BYU is supposed to be pretty good, so is the UW better than last year?
Given OU’s poor track record on the road last season, I’d be surprised if they were overlooking the game in Seattle. If OU posts a couple scores quickly, I think that could be a knockout punch. The UW has to hang around, use the crowd, and hope OU beats themselves with penalties and turnovers to stand a chance.
Oh, the UW is my alma mater, but Sooner football is where the heart is.

They're talented...
That’s about all I can say. They’re a very young group with a lot of true Freshman starting. Locker’s short accuracy seems like it’s starting to come around, but his deep balls need work. I think the O line of the Huskies will decide the pace of the game. If they can hold off the pretty brutal pass rush of OU and give Jake a chance to exploit the secondary (UW has a really quick and fundamentally sound WR corps), than things will open up on the line for UW. I expect OU to stack the box and pressure UW early, alot like Oregon did in week 1. If the Dawgs can weather the storm and if (BIG IF) Jake can make some quality throws down field you might see the potential of this team come out. In that case we’d have one hell of a shootout on our hands. Here’s hoping.

And shame on you...
for turning your back on your alma matter. That was a joke…kind of. But in all honesty I expect a good game if UW isn’t broken early.

That was a ...
rough call on Jake Locker at the end of the BYU game. I think Ty Willingham is a good coach who just needs more time for his young players to develop. He walked into a mess of a program and has made small strides so far.
I remember the days of the early 90’s where Husky Stadium was a real tough and noisy place to play. Is it still like that? I hope it is, because OU needs to learn to play well in those kind of environments.

Husky Stadium
Is still pretty rough. A couple of years ago (mainly 2005) it toned down and we had some attendance issues. People started getting fed up with the way the program was run. But it’s filling back up and no doubt will be a loud sellout. I’m getting pretty pumped.

The Thing That Scares Me The Most
Is that it is a road game for the Sooners. If they haven’t learned to be poised yet then anything can happen. On paper this is a huge mismatch in OU’s favor but then again so was Iowa State and Colorado last year.
I’m anxious to see how much this team has grown up.

As CC and other Oklahomans may know...
… you can take the kid out of Oklahoma, but you can’t take Oklahoma out of the kid. And this is from a guy who grew up as an adult in Seattle. I wish the Huskies all the success (and beat USC!) but not against my Sooners.
I remember the day Thurman Thomas, Pat Jones, and the Cowboys ripped the Huskies in Seattle opening day of 1985 after the 1984 Orange Bowl win by the Huskies over OU.
Man, I hope this game is televised and doesn’t conflict with my Tennessee Volunteer football plans. I live now in Knoxville.
The fans will be pumped, B Money. No doubt about it. Enjoy a beer or two for me at Montlake Ale House, which I guess used to be Grady’s, or the Big Time.

Television
The game will be televised by ESPN. Tennessee kicks off at 11:30 CST and Oklahoma at 6:45 so you should have no conflicts.
