Sooners Lose Out On QB/Picked To Win The South

Nathan Scheelhaase won’t be coming to Oklahoma to play football. The four-star quarterback from Kansas City picked Illinois as his college destination over Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. This still leaves Oklahoma without a quarterback commitment for the 2009 recruiting class. Good thing it is only July!

In other news the Big 12 Media Poll was released on Wednesday and Oklahoma and Missouri are the heavy favorites.

 Big XII North

1.       Missouri (51)  306

2.       Kansas  234

3.       Nebraska  183

4.       Colorado  181

5.       Kansas State  108

6.       Iowa State  59

Big XII South

1.       Oklahoma (49)  304

2.       Texas (2)  230

3.       Texas Tech 227

4.       Oklahoma State  140

5.       Texas A&M 118

6.       Baylor 52

Texas second in the South?

I realize the tally was close (230 v. 227), but Tech, to me, seems the clear runner-up in the South this year. Texas has to play Missouri (at home) but travel to Kansas and Tech. You gotta think at least 2 losses are in the works, and 3 if they lose to OU. Tech finishes second by virtue of playing (and hopefully losing) in Norman. Tech goes to Kansas too, but doesn’t play Missouri on the regular schedule. Tech just lacks some respect, but you’d figure they’d get some after beating Oklahoma two of the past three years and with all the players that are returning. I guess I’m bit of a Leach fan, and Crabtree is a fantastic player to watch.

I agree about Tech

Maybe I’m crazy but I feel that Tech will make a stronger run at the division than the Longhorns.

Big 12 South Runnerup

Got to go with Tech, although I have never given them much respect. They won the game against OU only for one reason last year…..Bradford went out and it took Halzle two quarters to get in the flow of the game. It’s supposed to be a down year for TX, but I wouldn’t count on it. OU vs Tech in Norman could decide the south this year.
