Texas Fans – "If McFarland Doesn’t Become A Longhorn It’s Because The Other Schools Cheated!"
Fans of the University of Self Entitlement (A.K.A – Texas) think that star defensive recruit Jamarkus McFarland playing anywhere else is so unfathomable that their “inside sources” tell them that the reason Texas is no longer at the top of his list is because other schools are cheating when it comes to recruiting him.
Hmmmm. It can’t be because he wants to play for a school like OU or USC that actually wins conference championships and plays for a national title more than once every 35 years.
I have inside sources too. They tell me that Mack Brown is like a little school girl who cries like a baby when he doesn’t get his way!

sure you can call it whining...
being a texas fan, there is no other way to call it but whining…..but that does not mean that there might be no truth to it….without evidence, it is whining, but there’s definitely something suspicious when Jamarkus’ mom(whose been a texas fan for a long time) does a complete 180 in a few days and now is pressuring her son to go to OU. She did not allow him to meet Mack and staff at home whereas she let Bob stoops do the same a few days earlier…
I’m not saying what OU did is illegal, all I’m saying is that we(as texas fans) have the right to be suspicious when a someone does a complete 180 in just a few days…
we know we are not going to get every 5* recruit out there, and this is actually the first time that a rumor like this has come up…we didn’t make up the same rumors when other 5 star recruits commited to OU over the past few years….
Thing is
Not just Sooner fans but the whole nation is getting tired of hearing the Longhorns, Mack and their fans whine any time someting goes against them. You want to talk unfair let’s go back a few years ago when the Sooners played Oregon.
Miami bound...
Maybe the kid's mom was offended by the walking explicitive known as Will Muschamp...
…and wants her son to play for a coach with a more complete vocabulary.
There are lots of reasons why kids and parents switch schools during the recruiting process. That’s why you don’t count on them until they sign on the dotted line. Doesn’t mean someone is cheating though.
Hate to say it but it is just more sour grapes from Texas.
oh and btw
USC is not in the picture…Jamarkus has said previously(on rivals.com) that its between OU and Texas…
Not sour grapes...
…but rather what I like to call the “…but…but we’re Texas” syndrome (coined after the WONDERFUL sign at the Big 12 Championship game). Recruiting is recruiting. You win some battles, you lose some others. That’s the name of the game. And truth be told, Mack Brown and his people are tremendous recruiters…which is why he carried the “Coach February” name for so long before VY finally helped them get over the top. Texas routinely gets top-level talent. That’s not in dispute.
But two things come into play here:
1. Texans simply can’t comprehend that people actually prefer to live outside of Texas, or might even prefer to leave Texas for greener pastures, if that works better for them,
and
2. Oklahoma gets very good talent and yet manages to win more. More Big 12 Championships. More National Championships. More Heisman trophies (and 4 of our 5 were OKLAHOMA boys born and bred, by the way…only our crazy friend Billy Sims came out of Texas…stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it, UT).
OU loses a recruiting battle for a top player and their fans think: “Well, there are a lot of good programs out there…he must have found one that works really well for him.” I’ve rarely heard of any sort of rumors or innuendo out of OU people in recruiting matters.
Texas loses a recruiting battle for a top player and their fans think: “Why would anyone ever even THINK of not playing for Texas? That guy is either high or on the take.” Perhaps Mack Brown needs to lobby for a Team Shrink…to help UT players, coaches, and fans get over it.

Looks like Texas was the one trying to bend some rules
Free drugs, naked women making out with each other and interest free loans. And they couldn’t land the kid. Good for McFarland for looking away.
ok...
so now you are going to believe this reporter, whereas when a texas fans says it its whining or sour grapes?
I don’t know if OU, texas or may be some other school was doing something unethical, but something aint right about this whole Mcfarland issue.
I think that you would agree that there is a big difference between, "I have a friend who said..."
and a New York Times reporter.
right...
and I hope that you agree that there is a difference between freelance writer(who went to a small OKie school) and whose 12 of his last 15 articles are pro-OU in some way or fashion, than a NY times reporter?
I hope that you also agree that just because its the NY times doesnt mean that the writer does not have a bias?
I see your point
But if the guy had no credibility then he wouldn’t have been contributing to the NY Times for two years now. I’ll still take his story in print over the, "I have a source who told me in secret…" guys.
Need to do a little more research before you talk
I know it is fun to jump on everything anti Texas the minute it becomes available but when you support the guy who wrote this article, you’re just making yourself look ridiculous. McFarland himself has already come out and said that not only were the accounts “spiced up” for an english paper he wrote, but he never handed that story over. His mom created this issue because she has been pro OU from the beginning. McFarland also said that there was, and I quote “no UT players or coaches at the party”. You think OU fans have never thrown a crazy party? What a group of our fans do in Dallas during RRS weekend has nothing to do with our football program. Everything McFarland said as a reason to choose OU over Texas was actually kinda funny….cause it was wrong. Come read the posts if you want more details but saying things like OU is a better academic institution (despite the fact that virtually every major recent list has us well above OU) and that he has a better shot to play in the NFL by going to OU (we have sent 5-6 DT to the NFL since 2000 and you guys have sent 2) really shows that this man made an uninformed decision. Enjoy your new DT guys, we prefer them having a clue anyways.
Look, I see where Texas fans are coming from, but
saying “Enjoy your new DT guys, we prefer them having a clue anyways”. Really? See: Andre Jones, Tyrell Higgins, and Brian Ellis
What this whole thing looks like to me is a writer (who has a problem with Texas or who is partial to Oklahoma, or both) found a perfect storm. He had a boring story until someone affiliated with Texas pissed off JMac’s mom. Or simply did something that she didn’t like to tip the scales to the Sooners. I don’t see why it’s so hard to believe that perhaps Jackie Shipp won this woman over and somewhere along the line, she began to form an opinion that the Sooners simply cared more. Mix that with a couple of negative comments here or there from her son about a party, or Mack’s tvs, and his mom had all the fuel she needed to sway him to OU. I think it probably just snow-balled from there.
After looking at the writer’s history, I’m not buying much of what he says.
We steal, people. It’s who we are. Your Big XII title, your heisman, your national championship game, and your home grown talent. I’d be angry, too. But it’s about time you got used to it.
Oh, and stop blaming us. Blame the Big XII. Blame the BCS. Blame the voters. Blame this writer.
It’s not our fault
good post ern
to add, if UT doesn’t want us taking their stuff (the things you mentioned), maybe UT should do a better job of hanging on to their stuff, such as win everything they have to win. BTW: who says that stuff is theirs? Only UT and only arrogance thinks like that.
Pantheon, could you please provide links to the McFarland quotes?
Also, show us in the story where it says that anyone associated with the Texas football program was at that party because I clearly read in the story that it was hosted by Texas "fans."
For all of you that wanted Mack Brown to speak up...
Well of course he wasn't going to admit that anything was true in that story
What I’m waiting for is a more detailed rebuttal and that won’t come until Feb
yall are ridiculous, first you criticize mack for whining, and then once he speaks out about it basically saying it was a lie and ou did nothing wrong, then u still have something wrong with it.
you guys need to get a life, it seems like the only thing that keeps you alive in your trailer parks and your part time jobs at the local gas and go, is your hate for texas. get a life you repo trash fuck tards
Hotty Toddy and Hook'em Horns.
Exactly what did OU do wrong here
and please validate the fact that Oklahoma is the only state in the country that has trailer parks.
This coming from an Ole miss fan
Mississippi is one if not the poorest states in the country. You know the FEMA trailers are only temporary right? Get a life and move along. Good luck against TT you will need it.
Miami bound...
on the me going being in mississippi thing, im from dallas, i live in the richest neighborhood in dallas, not in the boondocks of mississippi thats not where olemiss is
and i have been a longhorn fan since i was an infant, i couldn’t get in because i wasn’t top 10 percent in my class, so i went to visit ole miss, and i loved it. i cheer for ole miss first, texas second , and thats it. thats a legit excuse for liking two teams. i guess i also have a thing for programs who are not dirty (barry switzer). and as far as good lucking against tech, we wont need it we will beat them, count on it.
Hotty Toddy and Hook'em Horns.

What sold you about Ole Miss,
the academic rigor, the segregation, or the legendary tradition of their football program?
I didn't know the short bus had a route in Highland Park
The reply button is your friend use it. Maybe that is why you weren’t in the top 10 percent of your class, because you don’t understand things very well.
