DeMarco Murray out
I just read in the Dallas Morning News that DeMarco Murray is out of the Florida game and is having surgery for a partially torn hamstring tendon.
Obviously his injury was much worse than the staff initially let on.
This puts a lot more pressure on Bradford. I think Brown can handle the starter's role, but he's not the home run threat that Murray is. Also, this will be a huge step up in competition for Madu who has mostly been used in mop up duty.

THIS. SUCKS.
This blows. We’re going to need Madu to step up huge to have a chance. Sam Bradford is not invincible when we can’t run the ball. And this florida D can fly around. My day is officially ruined.
If nothing else, we’ll now be pretty big underdogs. Which I always like. Hopefully our D can use it as motivation and come out fired up.
Damn.

Look at the good news
If you win, you can say you did it without one of your best offensive players. If you lose, there is your excuse. Don’t bother pretending you won’t use it either, we kept hearing about losing your LB in the RRS game.

No one remembers who didn't play
Does anyone remember last year against WVU? We didn’t have 3 starters on offense and 2 on defense. (not making excuses now, because we still should’ve smoked em) No one remembers any of that, though. Just like no one (other than Texas fans) remember losing to Tech without Orakpo or Cosby.
A loss will all fall on Bob’s shoulders. Unfortunately he’s made that bed, so he has to sleep in it.

Hey, the other guys are pretty freaking good too.
Murray is a big loss, but he’s not even your leading rusher. Chris Brown has 1100 yards and 20 TDs! Gator Nation would rather play the Sooners at full strength, but still, this is only being viewed as a modest improvement for our chances. Bradford is SCARY…

What you are not understanding is the explosiveness of Murray
Chris Brown is the leading rusher but that is because he played the entire Big 12 Championship game and Murray only played one play whuch was the opening kickoff. Brown is the bruising workhorse back why Murray is the speedy homerun threat. The two go hand in hand to make Oklahoma’s rushing attack work. It is a very significant loss!

Well, okay, if you say so.
I won’t argue with you. You know your team best.
With our luck Tebow will break his hand in practice 3 days before the game.

Who needs a hamstring anyway?
In a way, Murray is our Percy Harvin – a guy that’s multi-dimensional and a homerun threat everytime he touches the ball. We’ll still be explosive, but it will be minus a huge part of our offense kind of like when you all played against Alabama.

The way you're playing it...
… I’m starting to warm up to him being out of the game! Just kidding. Wish both teams were at full strength. It’s the only way to go.

Maybe we can get lucky and
Tebow will step on a jelly fish or stub his toe on a rock or something the week of the game. :-p

Our other runner's are solid, but...
Murray is the big play threat. The one who can turn a 6 yd gain into a 30 yd gain. He also catches a lot of balls out of the back field. His little flares and screens have saved Bradford numerous times on 3rd downs. Brown is a solid guy and chews up a lot of yards, but this a huge blow.
Madu showed some flashes and a great burst in the Mizzou game. It will be interesting to see how he handles such a big stage with a full month of prep.

not that it matters...
…ou will still get stomp in the nc game with or without murray and, once more, embarrass the rest of the big 12 with their ineptitude in big games. boomer sooner! or whatever it is you ridiculous okies shout when you’re falling off the bar stool.

Are You Referring To The Stomp Musical?
"ou will still get stomp in the nc game"
I banned this idiot but thought I would leave his comment up here so that the world could see his grammatical ignorance. Rather than being worried about Oklahoma I would be more focused on finally achieving that 5th grade education.

Murray was to the RB corp what Harris and Reynolds are to the defense.
Neither Brown nor Madu have shown the same YAC on the flares and dump passes. That is a very integral part of the third down conversions this year.
I feel bad for Demarco and wish him a speedy recovery. Is this the same leg that had the dislocated kneecap?

I agree this is a blow...
But it’s not a killer. DeMarco is awesome. But let’s face it, despite his return to his great cuts and everything, he hasn’t shown the breakaway speed that he had last year. How many times did he get run down from behind on plays that would’ve been TDs last year? I can think of at least three or four.
I agree with ern above…he’s a big loss in that he catches a lot of screens and dumps out of the backfield and makes guys miss. So maybe we just throw to Clapp or Eldridge more.
Madu only ran for 114 on 15 carries against Missouri, so he’s no slouch himself. This is a minor setback. Would I love to have DeMarco? You bet I would, but we still won quite a few games earlier this year when he wasn’t at peak performance. We still have two very solid backs who can get the job done. And we have lots of other weapons.
