It's going to be close today
But you know what it is what it is.
Bradford said last night if they had only taken care of business in October they wouldn’t be here. I don’t think I have heard a Longhorn fan, player or coach say if we had beaten TT we wouldn’t be here. Accountabilty boys Sooners have it Longhorns don’t.
39-33
I was reading at BON earlier
And I saw one post that said “I hate that we don’t control our own destiny”. So it looks like maybe one Longhorn fan realizes what we have realized all along.
Other than that its just a bunch of foul mouthed remarks about hating OU. Funny how one guy even said, “Mack always takes the high road”. I guess the high road to them is out of the ditch.
it is a screwy system
and the truth of the matter is that the Horns should have a chance to play for the NC even if they’re not chosen the Big XII South champs. In a 4 or 8 team playoff, they’re right there, w/ us, Florida/Bama, USC…whoever. You should have a chance to have 1 bad week and still be in the hunt. Is UT any more or less deserving than we are? Not really. I think 1 good road win beats no good road wins and wins over Cincy and TCU beat 1 win over Mizzou but it’s all so subjective. It shouldn’t be.
And if we’re the ones chosen, and beat Mizzou next week, OU fans should swallow some humble pie b/c it very easily could’ve been us sitting on the outside looking in wondering, “How does a 44 pt win over the #2 ranked team in the country and a 3 TD win on the road at the #12 team in the country not get you a shot?”
boomer1, I noticed your e-mail start with p1tickethead.
I assume your a P1 listener to Sportsradio1310 The Ticket.
Just an FYI, I have worked in promotions for The Ticket for 3 yrs. Nothing big-time, I just do it for the love of the station. Definitely not for the money. Mainly just so I can say I am not completely wasting a broadcasting degree.
Sweet
I assume you have another job? I just sold my company so I’m unemployeed right now I might need a job soon. lol

Yes I do have a real job.
However, I refer to it as my triple fake job.

You'll have to come to one of the big events,
Like Guys Night Out, or Ticketstock. I don’t work alot because of my TFjob but I always work the big events.
GNO, this Thurs. Dec. 4 at Hooters in Arlington.

Texas gained 41 points, it's going to be close.....
Whatever happens, best of luck to all Big 12 teams this bowl season. It would be a shame to see the Big 12 Champion, or any Big 12 team, get blown out on a grand stage.
At least for OU fans, if we get in ahead of you, you know that you lost to us.
For Texas fans, we sit here, wishing that our team had taken care of business at Tech.
(and we watch the team we beat go in ahead of us).
In my perfect little world, Texas and OU rematch for the big 12 championship.
Not some 3 loss Mizzou team ahead of a one loss Texas or OU.

Remember that last week OU led in the Coaches and Harris Polls
but Texas got the overall nod in the BCS because of the computers. We know that the Sooners are ahead in the Coaches and if the computers continue to show OU love then the Harris Poll may not matter.
Still I’d like OU to remain ahead in the Harris just to be safe.
By my calcs
And keep in mind, the Sooners still have some ground they could very well make up in the Anderson and Hester and Colley Matrix polls.
Texas would need to have a 52 vote swing (26 voters move Texas up one spot and 26 move OU down one spot) in the Harris Poll to hang on to the second spot.
Exactly
I haven’t been this stressed about poll results since the 2000 Presidential Election.
BTW, the Colley website has a feature that allows you to add hypothetical results of games to see how it impacts the Colley Matrix.
FWIW, Texas would remain tops in that ranking, but that would get thrown out as that’s Texas’ highest ranking. Last week, that ranking had OU at 4th, which was thrown out because that was OU’s lowest ranking. With the hypothetical, OU moves up to 3rd and their lowest ranking of the 6 computer polls then becomes the Anderson and Hester poll, where they currently reside in 4th.
The result?
That 52 vote swing that Texas needs in the Harris poll suddenly becomes 80.
Just some food for thought.
It gets better for you OU fans:
In the Colley hypothetical, he only allows 5 changes. However, if you repeat the process for various games, you can get a pretty good idea of how things will work out. Adding in the wins for Texas, OU, Florida, Alabama, and Texas Tech gives you the primary factors/
Adding wins for Kansas, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Clemson give secondary factors for OU, Texas, Florida and Alabama. That mix strongly favors Oklahoma over Texas and even gives enough to bump OU ahead of Florida for #2 in the matrix. It’s possible if the rest of the games work out well enough for OU to jump even Texas in Colley, though I’m not sure how likely that is.
At any rate, expect a gain of 2 in Colley.

Just said from what they understand there are big changes in the BCS. Tune in after the game. Here we go!

The computers seem to be swinging in OU's favor pretty strongly.
Sagarin added a net of about -.4 toward OU. Colley will likely add 0.2. Others are helping OU as well, I believe.
And I don’t think any are helping Texas out relative to last week. I think you’re in the driver’s seat.

Looks like a Harris voter forgot to submit a ballot.
The number of first-place votes isn’t right (113 instead of 114).
Unfortunately, it looks like that was one of the guys who had voted OU #1 in the previous week.
According to
Brad Edwards a espn, the horns will need to be ahead by 21 pts in the Harris to be ahead of us if we’re 1 pt ahead in the computers. The horns are 6 pts ahead of us in Harris
Which they're not
Texas 2575, OU 2569.
Only up by 6.

Edwards has an update
it’s all about the computers. If the computers are tied, Texas goes. If OU’s ahead in the computers, we go.
I can't see a tie.
The early releases on computer polls are very heavily in favor of OU. All they need is about 1 of the remaining 3 or 4 computers to help them and it’s game over.

probably wise
I’m at school in UTenn, so it’s easy for me to be cavalier.

Which would make sense.
They were probably told that FOX would release the results immediately following the game. They probably weren’t told that FOX planned an hour of commercials first.
by David Hooper on Nov 30, 2008 3:20 PM CST up reply actions
FOX hosed this one up big time.
Everybody who cares already knows that OU is on top long before they ever get around to saying it.
Talk about taking your sweet time. You think they’d understand this whole “internet” thing by now.
It's important that everyone understand
that it’s so close, and so dependent on the computers, that OU could win next Saturday against Mizzou and fall to #3 in the BCS, moving UT to the title game. OU has to win and be convincing Saturday night or, even if the voters don’t change, the computers might.
True
However, if OU wins the voters change their mind in favor of Texas, they will seriously damage any credibility they have. I can’t see the voters going against OU if OU wins.
The computers are another matter, but this game shouldn’t hurt OU if they win.
by David Hooper on Nov 30, 2008 3:30 PM CST up reply actions
I don't agree
UT beat Mizzou by about 4 TDs. They crushed them. If we win 45-41, it may change minds (despite the whole “neutral field” meme that seems to apply right now).
All I can say is that the massive volume of freaking out going on at BON has this Red Raider tickled crimson and cream. Now, I’m bummed we didn’t get to be part of the BCS after what is arguably the best year we’ve ever had. HOWEVER…if the Longhorns don’t get what they want (and frankly, it could be anything…ice cream for desert, a Big Mac, or the BCS – I don’t care), I am happy.
