Baseball: Big-12 Preseason rankings

Bumped from the Diaries

I write about the KU baseball team at Rock Chalk Talk and try to occasionally share baseball updates that are of interest to the whole Big-12.  I have posted a new KU baseball notes story at Rock Chalk Talk which contains a few stories that are of conference wide interest.  Now that football has ended, maybe it is time we start focusing a bit more on the upcoming baseball season.  Opening day for most teams is February 22nd.

The first story covers Kendall Rogers' (Rivals.com) pre-season Big-12 rankings.  Rogers is one of the best informed national writers covering college baseball so his projections carry some weight.  He predicts:

  1. Texas
  2. Missouri
  3. Baylor
  4. Texas A&M
  5. Oklahoma State
  6. Nebraska
  7. Kansas State
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Kansas
  10. Texas Tech
And his pre-season All Big-12 team:
1B. Rebel Ridling, Oklahoma State
2B. Blake Stouffer, Texas A&M
3B. Matt Hague, Oklahoma State
SS. Beamer Weems, Baylor
OF. Kyle Russell, Texas
OF. Jordan Danks, Texas
OF. Byron Wiley, Kansas State
C. Preston Clark, Texas
SP. Aaron Crow, Missouri
SP. Brad Hutt, Kansas State
SP. Stephen Porlier, Oklahoma
RP. Daniel Edwards, Kansas State
DH. Roger Kieschnick, Texas Tech

The second story breaks down an interesting Baseball America evaluation of the major conferences.  Baseball America has the Big-12 ranked as tied for second with the ACC.  They pick the SEC as the best conference.  The BA article if four pages long but well worth the time for those who follow college baseball.

So, what do you think?

Hey, thanks for the bump to the front page!
So, do any of the baseball fans find this #8 prediction for Oklahoma unrealistic?  Is there more hope for the Sooners this year?

Yeah, I think there is more hope
It depends on how quickly their new talent develops. They lost some key players from last year's team.
