Fran Makes A Funny

Tired of his team getting ripped by Big 12 South opponents Dennis Franchione decided to do a little ripping of his own Wednesday night, from the safety of a podium.

Speaking at the Touchdown Club of Houston's "Texas A&M Day with Coach Fran" Franchione decided to break the ice by launching humorous jabs at most of the Big 12 South schools.

According to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle Fran took shots at Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech fans and then launched a crowd pleaser at the Oklahoma Sooners' expense.

His best line, however, was directed at Big 12 South rival Oklahoma. Franchione discussed all the returning quarterbacks in the Big 12 before noting the Sooners were one of the few teams that had to find a quarterback this season.

"That may be the only question mark they have ... other than what (summer) jobs they're going to work this year," Franchione said in reference to OU's recent NCAA sanctions involving former quarterback Rhett Bomar.

The crowd erupted in laughter.

Who would have thought Fran actually had a funny bone? Of course Sooner fans have been laughing at him since 2003.

without LT you're a nobody, FRAN
Hey their Franny,

You've managed to parlay having the best football player of this generation into two highly lucrative head coaching deals, quite a coup I must say.  Tomlinson has made your WHOLE career by coming to play for hometown TCU.

A&M is talent laden, but can't put together jack. Guy can't coach his way out of a paper bag.  He's like a fatter, dumber Mack Brown, pre-Vince in '05.

Got any Alabama jokes for us FRAN MAN?  Maybe schedule a stop on your comedy tour for Tuscaloosa?  I'm sure you'll have a very nice welcome, seeing as you left like such gentleman, slipping out like a thief in the night.

Really think A&M is a sleeping giant, that's why I hope Dennis "It's a FAKE!!" Franchione is gracing us with his presence for years to come.

77-0 was the funniest game I've ever witnessed.  That D-lineman doing the dance in the fourth, when Stoops is just basically taking a knee, running the ball into the line, will forever be a classic.

I jump at the chance to rip on Fran.

Big fan of the site, gotta say keep up the good work.

Love the top ten moments, good way to get that warm tingly feeling while waiting for the real deal to start.
